Elon Musk’s “Go To War” Post Against Apple’s Tight Control On App Store

Twitter owner Elon Musk news on Monday opened fire against Apple over the tight control apple allowed on the App Store. Elon Musk said that the iPhone maker has threatened to deny his recently acquired social media platform. Musk also told about the 30% fee Apple collects on trades via its App Store.

What was Elon Musk Reaction?

A series of tweets fired off by Musk included a meme of a car with his first name on it veering onto a highway off-ramp labeled “Go to War,” instead of continuing onwards towards “Pay 30%.”

Elon Musk also tweeted that Apple has “threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but would not tell us why.”

Apple did not instantly reply to an AFP request for comment.

Since taking over Twitter last month, Musk has cut around half of Twitter’s crew, including many employees tasked with battling disinformation, while others employees have willingly quit. He has also reinstated previously banned accounts, including former president Donald Trump.

Describing himself as a “free speech absolutist,” Musk believes that all content authorized by law should be allowed on Twitter, & on Monday he also described his actions as a “revolution against online censorship in America.”

Though Musk says Twitter is seeing record-high engagement with him at the helm, his approach has stunned the company’s major moneymaker — advertisers. Elon Musk on the 28th of November Monday blamed Apple for also having “mostly stopped advertising on Twitter.”

“Do they hate free speech in America?”

He asked, before commencing with a tweet tagging Apple’s respective CEO “Tim Cook”.

Apple was the top advertiser on Twitter in 2022 for the first 3 months, with approximately spending $48 million on ads which accounted for more than 4% of the different social media platform’s revenue, according to a Washington Post data report citing an internal Twitter document.

Sarah Roberts, an assistant professor of studies expert at the University of California, Los Angeles, told AFP that “Musk did not understand that Twitter itself was a brand, had cachet.”

“Now firms do not even want to be associated with it. It is not actually that they worry about the content. Twitter is a tainted brand, a brand non grata businesses do not want to be associated with,” she added.

Tarnishing Tesla?

Elon Musk on Monday 28th November also called Apple’s fee on transactions via its App Store a “secret 30% tax.”

He shared a video released the last year 2021 by Fortnite creator Epic Games that showed Apple as an oppressor in a mocking spin on a most famous “1984” ad for Macintosh computers.

Elon Musk’s controversial moves on the Twitter platform, along with the possibility he needs to sell more Tesla shares to keep all social media platforms floating, has taken the shine off of the electric car “Tesla” company & its stock, according to a Wedbush report analyst Dan Ives.

“The Elon Musk vs Apple new 2022 battle is not what investors want to see. This is tweeted by Ives.
